Roman Spectacular - Charles Magnante And His Orchestra (1958)

Another nice selection by our friend Suffering Fools, this has full orchestra and accordion playing a programme of traditional Italian melodies.

It's very different, a slightly older album than the usual for this blog, but sounding great and still well worth a listen!

Thanks to Suffering Fools for all his effort bringing this fine album to us, I hope you enjoy it and please comment of you do!

  2. The guitarist on the album is Tony Mottola, who would become quite a successful easy listening artiste in his own right.

  3. By the way, the album more likely dates from 1958 because it includes Nel Blu Dipinto di Blu, which was first performed in January of that year. :)

  12. Hi Mark !
Haven't visited your blog for a long period.
Now discovered, that the site is alive and became more attractive.
About this particular post with Magnante - it is fenomenal indeed !
In fact, Magnante - is a jazz accordeonist. And as such, the performance demonstrates Italian traditional tunes in a swingy manner. Nice and somewhat unusual.
The sound quality of the record is OK.
    Greetings from the Russia.
