I Believe In Music - Ray Davies & The Button Down Brass (1973)

Here is a rare one, which I have somehow never got round to posting here, though I have had it for many years!

An excellent blend of funky originals, the much-comped Heavy Water and Mach 1, soundtracks, God Bless The Child, Day By Day, Beautiful City & Tea For Two, McCartney's classic ballad My Love, and the traditional favourites, Swing Low Sweet Chariot & When The Saints Go Marching In, all have wonderful alternately funky and smooth, brassy arrangements!

Whilst an attempt by Ray at a lead vocal on the title track could be glossed over, that too has a great deal of charm and goes well with the rest of the album!

It is not in the very best of condition, but this does not detract from the listener's enjoyment at all.

I hope you enjoy it and please comment if you do!

    1. Nice album Mark, I thought that some of the endings sounded a little clipped.
