Here, as promised, is my compilation of all the David Snell tracks I have from various albums, some feature his fine harp playing, some don't, but all are composed and arranged by this unsung giant of Easy Listening.

I hope you enjoy it and please comment if you do!

Harp Transplant - The Harp of David Snell (1971)

A fine Easy album from our friend Will Crump featuring the sound of the harp.

Side One has the pop songs, whilst Side Two has the Classical favourites, all of which are arranged by David Snell himself in a very nice & smooth style.

Thanks to Will for all his effort in bringing another gem to us, and please comment to show appreciation if you enjoy it!

I have a custom compilation coming soon from Mr. Snell, showcasing his fine harp playing, and his arranging skill on a selection of tracks made for music libraries.

TV Music Spectacular - Sunday Night Variety Special (Record 8) [1978]

Day three of our TV Mega-post brings us to the eighth and final album of this fun box set!

No theme tunes on this one, it contains the sort of music shown on those big variety shows which were extremely popular on UK TV during the 1960's & 70s, but started to die away during the 80's.

Featuring names famous in the UK, I think only two acts featured here are known in the US, The Three Degrees and Acker Bilk.

Now that all eight volumes have been posted, it is also time to post pictures of the front and back of the box, too!

I hope you have enjoyed these recordings as much as I have had making them. If you have, a comment would be very nice; it is the only gratuity I accept for my effort in bringing you these albums.

TV Music Spectacular - The Great TV Themes (Record 7) [1978]

Day two of this Mega-post of the final three albums sees versions of some of the best UK & US TV themes of the 1960's & 70's.

Again, mainly from UK series, there are three tracks featured from classic 60's US series, Star Trek, Peyton Place & Dr. Kildare.

UK listeners will enjoy from Tony Hatch, his iconic themes from Man Alive and Crossroads, with much of the remainder from UK Easy legends Alyn Ainsworth & Norrie Paramor.

I hope you enjoy it and please comment if you do!

TV Music Spectacular - Your Favourite TV Classics (Record 6) [1978]

As promised, the last three volumes of this fun box set will be coming over the next three days.

So here is volume six, a selection of the best classical pieces which were used as TV theme music.

Mostly from UK TV programmes, plus one from a US program, these are entertaining for anyone who likes TV theme music, or classical music in general.

From these, my pick is Khatchaturian's Adagio from 'Spartacus', used in the 1970s as the theme from the BBC's The Onedin Line, a classic series which does not seem to have been repeated on UK TV recently.

I hope you enjoy it and please comment if you do!

TV Music Spectacular - TV Themes Of The 70s (Record 5) [1978]

The weekend at last, so it's time for the fifth volume of this classic Easy box set.

This time concentrating on the decade in which it was released, my highlights are Stone Fox Chase from The Old Grey Whistle Test, Andrew Lloyd Webber's Variations from The South Bank Show and the great laid back instrumental from Hong Kong Beat, the original being a UK chart hit single in 1978.

I hope you enjoy it and please comment if you do!

TV Music Spectacular - The Thrillers (Record 4) [1978]

Now, on to volume 4 of this great box set of TV themes.

Much for US as well as UK listeners, highlights include the original version of the Z Cars theme, plus great versions of the BBC's Quiller, and ITV's The Sweeney, The Avengers and Callan.

Classic US programmes make up the rest of the album, featuring ionic themes such as The Six Million Dollar Man, Ironside, The Rockford Files, not to mention one of the most recognisable TV themes of all time, Hawaii Five-O!

Many of the tracks on this, and the other albums of this set are in specially re-recorded versions credited to the arranger, plus The London Festival Orchestra, originally formed as an in-house orchestra by Decca in the 1950's, but has since become established as a fine orchestra in its own right, and is still performing today.

I hope you enjoy it and please comment if you do!

Midnight - Brancaster Studio Orchestra (1986)

#REPOST#

Originally posted here in 2008, this album catches Easy Listening at a point just before the synths and drum machines took over, with its full orchestral pop arrangements and blend of 80s love songs and TV and movie themes.

I hope you enjoy it and please comment if you do!

Even The Nights Are Better - Bernard Ebbinghouse (Special Compilation)

Thanks again to Will Crump for another fine compilation, this time featuring a name I had not heard much about, Bernard Ebbinghouse.

The web has little information about him, but what is known is that he was born in Germany in 1927, and moved to England in 1935 where he spent the rest of his life.

Early in his career, he was an arranger for Geraldo & His Orchestra, then worked on TV and film soundtracks from the 1960s to the early 1970s, including UK comedy film Prudence And The Pill in 1968.

An album was issued in 1971 credited to Flutes 'N' Flugels (conducted by Bernard Ebbinghouse), some tracks from which are included here.

I understand he later worked for the BBC, as the only two tracks I previously had from him were on a BBC compilation called Listen Easy - Hits From The 60s.

He passed away in 2012, aged 84.

TV Music Spectacular - Sportstime (Record 3) [1978]

Here is volume 3 of this classic 1978 box set, featuring many iconic UK TV sports themes.

Some have dated rather well, as Barry Stoller's Match Of The Day is still in use today, albeit for many years with a newer version. Keith Mansfield's Grandstand theme was used from the 1970's until the programme ended in 2007. Brian Bennett's Holy Mackerel was used for Rugby Special for over 20 years, too!

I hope you enjoy it and please comment if you do!
