Lennon And McCartney Tijuana Style - Torero Band (1969)

A very nice summery tijuana brass feel to these arrangements of 12 classic Beatles tracks.

It doesn't say on the sleeve, but I am sure these were arranged by Alan Moorhouse, as I believe he arranged the classic Tijuana Christmas album, also by Torero Band on MFP, and also the version of Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da (see below) is very similar to his arrangement performed by the Joe Loss Orchestra, I think.

This album has been out there before, but doesn't seem to be now, so here is my rip!

I have had this one for quite a long time, have seen it in the charity shops several times since I bought it, and just never got round to digitising it until now.

The arrangements are exactly what you may expect, no surprises, just excellent 60s brass arrangements of these well-known songs.

I hope you enjoy it and please comment if you do!

  3. Yay! I've had this on vinyl since 1987 and play Please Please Me whenever I want to dance away the blues. It's a gas to have a quality rip. Thank you.

  6. This is delicious kind of The Beatles music! Tastes great! Thank you.

The 'Yellow submarine' sounds fun - very fast tempo =)

Some few question: Tell me why this album tagged as 'Alan Moorhouse'?

  7. MrM,

I am fairly sure that this was arranged by Alan Moorhouse, as I speculated in the post.

  8. Thanks for the upgrade and the update, too. I didn't know Moorehouse was involved here. But it makes perfect sense what you wrote.

  11. Hi, this was the first record I ever owned - was bought for me by mum at a Woolworths...my eight or nine year old self thought it was an actual Beatles album and I was dissapointed it was instrumental. I no longer have it but for years now I was convinced it was by Tijuana Brass, just goes to show how reliable my memory is. So the first record I owned was actually by the Torero band. I'm glad I came across this site.

    1. I'm afraid that like Anon above this was the first album I ever bought ( from John Menzies) - I was 9 or 10 and I thought that I had bought a real Beatles LP as well !!! I still have it !! I have a friend in Aberdeen who did the same!!! John
