Thank you and goodbye!

Well, I think it's now time to let you know that I have decided not to do any more posts here on Easy Listening World.

It is not far away from ten years of existence for my blog which has had many thousands of visitors, a fact I will always be very proud of. I believe that I have been able to continue when so many similar blogs have stopped or been closed is due to my care ensuring that I was only offering what was unable elsewhere and not posting too frequently, the only point to the blog being a love for a style of music which has generally been consigned to the past, ignored by record companies as not being worthy of re-issue to a rather small group of enthusiasts.

I have for the entire length of the blog enjoyed sharing my discoveries with you all, the only currency I would consider accepting being your comments, however I have often felt that considering the number of downloads and visitors against the number of comments, it seems an extremely small proportion of visitors have been prepared to offer comment on my posts.

I realise that I have made no new posts in recent weeks and months, but in that time the only new comments that have come have been meaningless spam, and boy, have there have been a lot of them.  For that reason I have generally stopped reading them and that has taken away much of my  motivation for continuing to share my collection here.

I am not going to close or delete anything, but obviously links over time will expire and not be replaced.

Thanks for all the support, visits and comments from everyone over these ten years, particularly  the personal connections I have made; without you it would not have lasted this long!

So, in the words of The Two Ronnies, it's goodnight from me (and goodnight from him)!

All the best,

Mark

  1. It's the nature of the grab-and-run internet. I've closed numerous blogs as well. Good luck. You won't regret it.

  9. Greetings
Heard many of the selections on the FM airwaves over 30+ years ago and never knew who these artists were until accessing many blogs such as yours. I blame automation for the demise of this
music on airwaves. Could never contact stations to get info on selections played. A sad day for me and just a line to say many THANKS for much beautiful music.
    Peace
    Bob

  17. Hello dear Music Lover,

Thank you for all the efforts that you have taken to share your love music with us during 2017 - it is particulary appreciated.

It takes a lot of effort to organise a blog and I am very much aware that for all your energies very few people express their thanks for what you do. Most unrewarding.

Do hope that you are enjoying the end of 2017 festivities and that we can look forward to more correspondence from you in 2018.

All the very best and good health in 2018.

    Thank you and cheers,

    Douglas (UK)

  18. I hope you'll reconsider. Your posts are appreciated, even though very few followers would give you feedback. It wouldn't be a stretch to say that those who download your posts *are* commenting through their actions. Hate to see you go......

  25. Hi, I'm really sorry to hear that goodbye! , I really enjoyed all their music that I shared from which I benefited and opened my channel on YouTube and my subscriptions are going up every day thanks to their album that they share very generously, it is true we are ungrateful and ungrateful to not leave comments on their blogger It is easier to take than to say thank you, I apologize already out of time, I can not give my thanks and my appreciation for such a worthy work that I carry with me, for the benefit of those of us who like to listen to good music and if you plan to reconcide your decision will be welcome again, and we will also create awareness of our role that we play, the beneficiaries of your great bogger fly soon please!

  26. Hello. Well -- I've just noticed your close-down message, and I'm sorry that you have hung up your blogging boots. Your tastes are similar to mine. Anyway - now that there's one fewer blog, I might find the time to actually listen to some of what I've been downloading!! Regards.

  28. I myself got tired as well of creating new posts with so little feedback or interaction on my own blog (easysounds.wordpress.com). Only a small fraction of the visitors leave comments, and this can work if you can reach a certain critical mass. I was guilty myself of taking the work of others for granted in the past - this is the result of the internet feeling anonymous, too easily we forget that behind the content there are real people. I did realise this myself at some point and consequently, I've been saying thanks more often and also been contributing myself more recently. But since it's not hyped funk records we've been sharing, but Easy Listening gems, it's harder to reach a critical mass of engaging visitors. Still, thank you for the effort you've put into this and I hope we can continue to share this music in the future in some other way. You, Paul, and others who are reading this are welcome to take a look at my YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/user/easysounds1970 as well writing me a message there - I'm some sort of Easy Listening missionary myself.
