TV Music Spectacular - On The Trail - The TV Westerns (Record 2) [1978]

Straight on with the second volume in this fine TV theme set, it sees us in the old West with some of the most popular US TV series of the 60s and 70s, and many iconic theme tunes.

My picks are great versions of Bonanza, The Virginian, Rawhide and Alias Smith And Jones, all tracks played by either the great UK band leader, Jack Parnell, or the Dimensions In Sound Orchestra.

I'm back to work tomorrow, so the next volume will be in few days time.

I hope you enjoy it and please comment if you do!

TV Music Spectacular - TV Themes Of Today (Record 1) [1978]

This box set of classic TV themes has been requested, so here it is!
I am going to be posting one album at a time, in order, as I am still in the process of recording them.
"Today" of course means 1978, but many of the themes are still well-known today.
Highlights of this first volume are 101 Strings' fine version of the theme from M.A.S.H., Tony Hatch playing a jaunty Eye Level from Van Der Valk, and the classic Galloping Home from Black Beauty.
I hope you enjoy it and please comment if you do!

Guitar For Lovers - Al Caiola (1964)

Sorry it's a day late, but here is a fine album from Al Caiola celebrating lovers everywhere!
Full of guitar melodies with vocals coming through occasionally in the background, it is a perfect soundtrack for a night with a special someone!
Thanks to our friend and regular contributor Suffering Fools for bringing us another classic from Al Caiola, a name so well-known in the US, but virtually unknown here in the UK.
I have never seen any of his albums in any of the charity shops I have visited since I started this quest over ten years ago, so I for one am very glad to be hearing these albums I would not have had the chance to hear.
I hope you enjoy it and please comment if you do!

Soft Lights And Beautiful Music - Manuel And The Music Of The Mountains

Thanks to Will Crump for bringing us this fine compilation from Easy legend and personal favourite, Manuel And The Music Of The Mountains.
Keeping the Easy flame burning as late as the early 1980's, Geoff Love / Manuel seemed to do this by ensuring the albums were full of the latest pop songs arranged in that trade marked Manuel string and guitar sound!
Thanks again Will for all your efforts, I hope you enjoy this and please comment if you do!

A Button Down Party - Ray Davies & The Button Down Brass (1974)

Released shortly after the amazing I Believe In Music and Benny And The Duke albums, this next one is not in the same class, but is still a worthy addition to any collection of Ray Davies brass albums.

Not much funk here, more of a concentration on lighter brassy arrangements of popular 70's pop songs, including two medleys of songs made famous by two popular UK acts of the early 70's, Gilbert O'Sullivan and Peters And Lee.

Highlights include fine re-arrangements of Avanera from Bizet's Carmen, Mancini's Baby Elephant Walk and as always, a Ray Davies original in Keep On Streaking, not at all funky though, it has what I could best describe as a "shuffle" type beat, a little glam rock in style.

Apologies if the start and end of some tracks seem cut off, the album was issued in that terrible "non stop" format with no breaks between the tracks; I have done my best to cut at the right time.

I hope you enjoy it and please comment if you do!
